The '62 Impala SS Convertible has finally been painted!

It's been a long time coming. You might remember, back in May in 2015, we found the barn find of all barn finds and we've been making slow and steady progress on her ever since. After bringing her home to start the restoration, we had to deal with some logistical issues related to the titling. It wasn't until late 2016 that we were able to get her tucked into her spot in the shop. Fast forward a few year, and we finally got the engine installed. Well - we've hit a new milestone for the Impala SS Convertible: she's finally wearing paint. There were definitely some challenges getting the paint laid correctly, but the..READ MORE

Engine Install in the Barn Find 1962 Impala SS [VIDEO]

In the winter in the Pacific Northwest, you don't see many classic cars cruising around on the snow covered streets. It's the perfect time of year to hunker down in a garage and knock out some serious progress on a project. That is exactly what we did with the '62 Impala SS Convertible Barn Find Project. You can get up to speed on the '62 Impala Build Thread here, or dive right into the updates here: First update, Second Update. We still have a lot of progress to go before she will be road-worthy again, but we're optimistic it will be back on the road this spring.

Disassembly, Engine Rebuilding, and More!

After getting all the title logistics figured out, the barn find '62 Impala SS Convertible has a clean title and is ready for a full restoration. The first step is putting it in the garage so it's easy to work on it all winter long. Here's when we first found it. And, we tracked down the correct numbers matching 1962 327 engine and did a complete rebuild. It even has the high-performance camel hump heads! Stay tuned.

Small Block 350 Chevy into '62 Impala SS

Test-fitting the Chevy 350 Motor

Backstory: Here's where we told you about this '62 Impala SS barn find for the first time, and here was the last update. In order to get the proper title paperwork, we had to dry mount a Chevy 350. Then, the seats were installed and bolted down (just for show). Here is short video of Nick and David preparing the 350 small block before it gets dropped in the car. Now, it's time to uncover the old Impala.

62 Impala SS Barn Find

Bringing Home the Barn Find Impala SS For Restomod/Restoration

Last week Nick posted some photos of this 1962 Impala SS Convertible Barn Find that he came across. Well - he was able to purchase the vehicle and trailered it home yesterday. Here are a few photos of the trip! As this picture shows, the floors were in great shape and didn't appear to have much rust damage at all. New Project - Barn Find 1962 Impala SS Convertible in Spokane, Washington

For us gear heads, few things in life are more exciting than the idea of stumbling upon our very own muscle car barn find. It doesn't matter if you are a Ford, Chevy, or Mopar guy, we all dream about finding that classic car, forgotten by time and covered with dust, and the thought of what we would do to it if were were able to seal the deal and bring it back home. The reality is that these opportunities are quickly disappearing, so if any of the real die-hards or car nuts do happen to find a barn find classic car, chances are they wont let it slip out of their hands. For the..READ MORE
