My '67 Mustang is about as bare-bones as it can be. What was once a single piece has been sliced and diced some more. The entire front clip has been detached from the body, and the old, rusty floor and frame rails have been cut out. The frame table is going to make the next steps considerably easier to complete. It is really important to get everything square before welding the new metal back into the car. This project is going to involve a lot of metal fab to get things dialed back in to factory specs. Next up: The Dynacorn Full Floor/Trunk Pan (3648RWT) install!
The engine build is getting kicked off with several of the engine parts showing up, including the AFR 220 heads, Comp cam, and Oliver Racing connecting rods! The Tremec Magnum 6 speed transmission also showed up! I'm expecting the Dart aluminum block to show up next week as well, and then the fun begins! My 1967 Mustang Fastback project is coming along nicely! Two weeks ago, I got the car back from the acid dip, and I'm currently getting ready to dive in to some metal repair/replacement. In the mean time, I've been collecting other parts and getting the rest of the build plan together. A month ago, I received the new factory style black vinyl upholstery with Comfortweave inserts, made by TMI. I also opted for a slightly modern style foam. Hi everyone! I just wanted to share a quick update of the 1967 Mustang Fastback project, since I just got it back from the acid dipping place. Here's the video showing the results: https://youtu.be/xU-DnVz52wM As you can see, the car is clean and bare metal now. There is a clear coat rust inhibitor that is preventing the car from flash rusting. After I perform the necessary metal repair/metal replacement, we're going to epoxy primer the entire car, before starting in on the blocking and sanding, painting, and assembly. Hey guys! I've been working away on the Mustang Fastback project. If you remember, I picked up the car in April. It was a really solid project, especially for a $14,000 car. Here's a closer look at the car when it first arrived! Once I had the chance to properly assess the project, I got to work removing every piece of the car. Yesterday I finally did it. I bought the car that I've been thinking about since 1998; a '67 Mustang Fastback. I remember seeing a green one for sale when I was in high school in 1999. It had a 351 Cleveland engine and four speed. They wanted $4k for it, which was slightly over my budget at the time. I wanted it bad, but it didn't happen.
