Somewhere along the way, someone decided that this Cadillac didn't need whitewall tires. I disagree. The absolute first thing I purchased once I received the car is a new set of Diamondback white whitewall tires! I took the car down to the local tire shop so they could swap them on for me.
My new '49 Cadillac has a Gen 2 LT1 engine in it, but it came with what was described to me as the matching numbers original Cadillac 331 engine, complete with the the engine accessories and Hydramatic transmission. Upon Further inspection, I can see that the engine serial doesn't match the frame and title vin for the car, so this isn't the engine that originally came with this car. However, this is a '49 engine and it appears to be in solid shape. My plan over the next few months is to get this engine fired up and running on the stand that it's sitting on! I've been a Cadillac enthusiast for years. The 1949 Cadillac has always been my favorite year, so when I got the opportunity to purchase this extremely solid 1949 Cadillac Convertible in Fort Worth, TX, I jumped on it.
