Yes, I am familiar with that manufacturing difference with the straight 8 engine. There is one (1948) Olds with a straight 8 here in my town for sale and I for one can tell the slight difference in lenth. I would buy it except that even though it runs and has no rust through, it looks like a poor barn find and the seller wants top dollar for it. He must have been watching too many episodes of Classic car auctions on cable TV or doing meth on the side. He is asking $30k and according to my estimate perhaps $5k or $6k highest.
