1941 Chevy Deluxe. “FYI” There were a few cars produced in the 1940’s war years. They were built for the military and U.S.Government use. Mostly painted in olive drab or U.S.Navy battleship grey. Cars built and sold for civilian use were stopped in production in early 1941. Willys built Jeeps, Ford built some jeeps too. Studebaker built 35,000 trucks fot eh military. Chrysler built a lot of tanks! GM built all sorts of military vehicles! My Dad ordered a new Studebaker in 1945, it arrived at the dfealership in Baltimore, in 1946 and it did not have any bumpers or a back seat! The steel shortages were causing all sorts of automobile production problems. With uncertain delivery of the rest of the car, Dad decided to refuse the car after waiting a year to get it. So he managed to keep his old1941 Studebaker running (rebuilt engine) for another year. Finally got a new 1947 Studebaker, after 2 years of waiting. Just a small inconvenience caused by the Germans and the Japanese.
