The 1965 Shelby AC Cobra 289 turned in a quarter mile time of 13.73 seconds at 101.58 mph.

The 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 ran a 13.81 and topped a 103.8 mph.

In the test, the Cobra and Chevelle easily┬ábeat a ’70 Plymouth Duster 340 and a ’70 Mustang Boss 302 as well.

So – what was the fastest pre-1971 “production” car in the quarter mile?
