Sportwagon Fans...it's time for someone to drive this beauty home ! this is a Model 44265 mid-level 3 seater wagon built in 1965 at the NJ plant. It is one of the remaining 4,664 (note: a numerical palindrome) produced & has the ever popular ''Skyroof'' observation windows. It was previously owned & driven west by Eddy Manson, Oscar winning composer of the 1956 Walt Disney movie, 'The Little Fugitive'. I purchased it from him in 1989 & it has been a daily driver ever since. VIN # - 442655H303227
The original engine was rebuilt in 1995 & then replaced in 2004 with a GM 350 Crate engine (290+ hp) & 700R4 transmission (approx. 70k easy miles on engine). In 4/2/10 the trans was overhauled by Art Carr's California Performance Transmission & has approx 17k mi on it. It has a serpentine drive, new starter (6/20/12), remote relay for starter (6/18/12), front disk brake pads (less than 20k mi), Accel 300+ ignition box, new plugs, new glove box, Hooker headers, dual exhaust, new front & rear shocks (1/6/12), new front end parts, Curry 3.73 rear end. new battery - june 2012.
The 3rd seat has the original upholstery. The other seats were refurbished in 2008 by Mike's Upholstery of Mission Viejo, CA when I painted the car inside & out Red Pearl. I have the original lic. plates, original radio, original hood ornament, extra side moldings, extra grill & light bezels, extra rear light lenses, a clock, back seat sun visors (need to be recovered), a Mark IV air conditioner (not hooked up/have parts) 2 shop manuals, original owners manual, 24 years of receipts ! includes a car cover.
Non-original parts include: Buick wire wheel covers, Buick roof rack & Buick gas tank trim piece. Features a JC Whitney hood ornament prominently displayed...a real eye catcher !
Needs: 1. I didn't finish the cargo area behind the second seat: it needs the panels upholstered (see new pics) & the rear headliner is in very good condition & could be painted the same color as the door panels & front headliner (I have the new headliner as well) I have all the windlaces & trim for that area - probably 10 hours worth if you do it all yourself.
2. heater core, air conditioning hook-up (have the parts - no condenser tho), squirter on wiper doesn’t work.
There are a few small rust spots - see pictures....the rear bumper was re-chromed in 1992 but has some rust spots on it...the front bumper is original & looks good at 47 years.
