1965 Impala SS Restoration Project Begins…

The time has come. I have started the process of finishing the body work and paint, as well as the interior of my 1965 Impala Super Sport. I have found too many rusted spots and body cancer to let this go on any further. I imagine this process will very time consuming. I am hoping to do some “garage” type procedures to minimize cost while trying to maintain exceptional results. I have also started to do little things like remove and polish the chrome, such as the grill (I stripped the entire grill of the factory black paint) and will be going with a custom look. After doing much research, I have also sourced a way to paint my car, myself, for less than $50. Don’t start laughing quite yet…. I will use a roller instead of a spray gun. I know this seems silly, but I will show you how I do it every step of the way, and here are a few pictures to show what I am working with.

The Races

What could be better than an old camaro that can lift the front end up when you stomp on the gas?…not a whole lot.

Smooth lines and classy curves

These old Chevy Fleetlines have got to be one of the best looking late 40’s-early 50’s cars produced. This one is a great example and shows that with only minor modifications, these cars can really stand out. The factory put so much chrome on these Chevy Fleetlines that it isn’t really necessary to add any more. An Air-Ride suspension and a nice set of Craiger wheels are the only major modifications that this Fleetline has. I also really like the windshield visor. Cars like this one are quickly becoming very rare, adding to its mystique and exclusivity. These Chevy Fleetlines are definitely one of the coolest old cruisers of all time.

Flame Throwers for your Classic Car

These days, many hot rods builders are putting kits on their cars that produce flames out of the exhaust. This is a simple modification and yields a great response from onlookers. There are many flame throwing kits available in the aftermarket world these days, though not many produce the great flames shown in the picture below. These kit is a flame thrower kit for a dual exhaust hot rod car or truck available from The Hoffman Group. After seeing many kits, I think that these are the best available and deserve some attention.

66 Corvette Burnout

Who hasn’t dreamed about taking a 1966 Corvette down a track to see what it would do? I know I have. This guy looks like he is really loving it!
