Biggest Supercharger on a Muscle Car
May 21, 2008 – 2:44 pmI came across a video on youtube today with what appeared to be the biggest supercharger that I had ever seen. It was on a early Camaro and it looked wild. I was able to track down some more pictures of it to confirm that it wasn’t a camera trick, or a Photoshop wizard at work. Take a look…
Here is the video that I found. I can’t imagine how anyone could see out of the drivers seat while heading down the strip. I guess they would just have to keep the wheel straight and hope for the best. I would love to see this car race the blown 1965 Impala that we saw in Columbus.
For those of us who are not too familiar with the inner workings of a supercharger, here is a nice article that talks about how they work. Does any one else have any more info about this car? Thoughts?

I belive this is a diesel supercharged engine from a large construction machine.

Rather than a supercar it looks like a wierd animal to me as in spider man octopus hehe
Moreover it looks so dangerous to drive tho how come someone drive and see from the drivers seat that is back to the engine…

I really have to wonder if they have taken everything into account when adding this huge supercharger. The video said that the guy blew a head gasket the first time he pressed on the accelerator after it was installed. Cam shafts, strength of the drive train, gear ratios, ect. If there is such a thing as too much power, then this guy has exceeded it. However, I will admit, this might be neat to try…but I would change the gear ratio to make it start off slower but give a better use of the rpm band

its not possible
even on the biggest motor made for a car of fullsize
the motor is not big enough for the pressure that the blower makes and the air that is forced in doesnt have any where to go so it will keep blowing the head gaskets or it will possibly blow the heads to pieces

I am shure that right away when they made it they put a restrictor plate type of thing in the blower. Just my idea.

There are a lot of guesses but i think thats just a box and nothing else because this much big supercharger will melt the block like an ice cream. (Just an idea)

You guys must be under the age of 30. REAL hotrodders experiment with ideas. We don’t just bolt something on that worked for someone else. How do you think the origonal hotrod parts came to be. Edelbrock and Isky are both examples of how experiments work. After all, the first blower was taken off of military equipment not to mention NOS

The car did not have that huge blower mounted in the video where it rolled over on luanch. That bad launch has nothing to do with power, and more to do with extremely poor suspension setup. Maybe even a broken axle after it stood up. Those giant blowers {as well as ALL roots blowers} come off diesel engines, most gas cars use an 8-71 thru 14-71 sized blower. this means it pushes enough air to feed 8 cylinders of 71cubic inches in size a piece. If you notice that huge blower is severly underdriven to keep the boost in check, not to mention that gas motor makes no where near enough TORQUE to turn that blower fast enough to produce boost where it was designed to. That thing is made to power SHIPS not a car. Im sure the car is bent and the owner scared shitless from the easy over…so he built a car that could not possibly be driven in order to have a “valid reason” not to drive down the strip anymore. See it all the time with people that have more money than sense.
