Rod Builders, Inc. Shop Tour

December 4, 2007 – 7:08 pm

On Saturday Nick and I had the opportunity to stop by the Spokane Valley shop of Rod Builders, Inc. to see some of the projects they are working on and to learn a little bit about the scope of their work. Seconds after stepping into the shop we were able to see that this was a full service custom shop as we observed several projects at various stages of progress.

Bob showed us the amazing level of customization that went into this car - especially the custom hood that was fabricated on the spot.

Walking into the back portion of the shop unveiled some projects that are closer to being completed; some just happened to be sporting my favorite wheels too!

The guys at Rod Builders, Inc. often take on projects that people have started themselves but are unable to finish. I imagine some of these projects can arrive in pretty rough shape. With meticulous craftsmanship, these unfinished rigs are turned into classic car show-winning works of art.

We were also shown an example of their custom console that they fabricate out of metal, unlike most fiberglass re-pops. I have a custom console in my mustang which is wrapped in vinyl, but these consoles are painted to match the color of the car. The example that we saw was stunning, and made me want to rip my current one out and have them build one for me!

Our visit to Rod Builders, Inc. further cemented my belief that anything is possible when customizing a classic car. Next time you are at a car show in the northwest, be sure to say hello to Bob, Judy, and the crew. In the mean time, hop on over to their website and blog to see other things they are working on and to contact them.
