Replacing the Radio Antena on my 1967 Mustang
August 7, 2006 – 5:07 pmOn Saturday, I set out to finish the job that I started by replacing the antenna on my 1967 mustang. I purchased a replacement one because the original one snapped off with a tree branch fell on the car (tear).
After taking off the top chrome fastener, I was able to drop the antenna down below the fender enough so I could slide the bottom fastener up through the hole. Then, I disconnected the cable from the back of the stereo, and I was ready to slap the new one in.
The new one went in very smoothly, and I made sure to cover the wrench with a cloth when I tightened the chrome pieces as the final fasteners.
The new antenna look great! Inf act, it looks a lot better than the original did before it was snapped off, because the little rubber gasket that provides the layer between the antenna ans the fender was old and brittle. This is about a 15 minute job and makes a world of difference! Next time, I will take pictures and post up a little how-to.
