Classic Car Stamps

The bad news: the price of stamps just went up and there isn’t much we can do about it.

The good news: stamps will be available with cool classic car pictures!

The U.S. Postal service will be releasing a limited number of stamps with classic car pictures on them, with artwork by Art. M. Fitzpatrick. Featuring a 1959 Caddy Eldorado, 57′ Chrysler, ’57 Lincoln, ’57 Pontiac, and more, these stamps will be available this fall. Get yours while you can…

8th Annual Garden City River Rod Run

I got really excited when I read about a classic car show and cruise in Missoula Montana. Then I saw the date: Hoopfest weekend. There goes that idea…

If I wasn’t such an avid basketball player, I would most definitely make the couple-hour trip to Missoula for this great sounding event. Has anyone been to this show in the past? Share your stories…

Gearing up for the First Show of the Year

Today’s sunny weather is bringing out my anticipation for next weekend’s Lost in the 50s car show in Sandpoint, Idaho. Perhaps my posts here and here weren’t enough to stir up some excitement, so I thought I would remember what last year looked like.

I drove out to the cruise on Friday night, leaving work as early as I could. But - there was a lot of traffic on the road and I missed the majority of the cruise. There were lots of sweet cars parked along side of the streets so I was able to get a few pictures.

This year, I plan on getting out there early and snapping some photos before the cars leaving the parking lot on the cruise. I have always loved hearing all of those cars start their engines at the same time. I’ll make sure to arrive early this year. After all - I’ve been waiting all winter for this!

Sandpoint Car Show - Links

Last week I posted some pictures from the Lost in the 50s car show that takes place in Sandpoint, Idaho each year. I stumbled across the organization’s official website last night and noticed a few familiar pictures. Looks like I missed out on some of the other non-car related activities as well; I’ll have to take more pictures this year!

Who’s planning on going?

Mild Custom 1950 Chevy Fleetline

50 fleetlineWhile checking out some pictures from the Goodguys Del Mar Show, I came across an absolutely gorgeous 1950 Chevy Fleetline done by Robert House. The pictures over at Streetrodderweb.com show just how clean this mild custom was built.

I love the shaved doors, subtle grill, the lowered stance, and the nice wheels. This Fleetline has got all the right mods. This wouldn’t be a bad car to model for David’s 50′ Fleetline project. But, unlike Dad’s Fleetline, this one is V8 powered, has a nice air-bag suspension setup with IFS, and has a 10 bolt rear end. Needless to say - this one can probably get down the strip a little quicker.

Does anyone else have a mild to wild Fleetline custom?
